Being Imitators of Jesus (Performing Arts and Theater)

To encourage the imitation of Jesus’ character through dramatic art, empathy, and participation in biblical stories.
  • Children aged 3 to 12 years
  • Modality: Theater + bodily expression
  • Kit: Blunt-tip scissors, cardboard in quarters, cardboard,
    letter-size notepad, markers, LED light, stickers, mask, crayons, and t-shirt
Program duration
One month | Duration per session: 2 hours
Classes per week
1 class per week | Hours per month: 8 hours
Areas of Development
  • Bodily expression: Gestures, movements, dramatization.
  • Language: Repetition of biblical phrases.
  • Socio-emotional: Empathy, cooperation, respect.
  • Spiritual: Identification with Jesus and His example.

Structured Activities

Small plays about parables

  • Verse: “Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children.” (Ephesians 5:1)
  • Materials: Cardboard cloak or crown
  • Dynamic: Role-play of good deeds
  • Kit: Decorated cloak + "I am an Imitator of Jesus" sticker

Mimes and dramatizations

  • Verse: “And you shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 22:39)
  • Materials: Basic set design (blankets, tunics, cardboard objects)
  • Dynamic: Short dramatization of the Good Samaritan, and mime recognizing the character
  • Kit: Blanket + small hat + card with verse + face paint

Group Improvisations

  • Verse: “Tell the Israelites: I am the Lord your God.” (Leviticus 18:2)
  • Materials: Symbolic microphone and costume
  • Dynamic: Short play "The Children of Israel"
  • Kit: Cardboard microphone + sheet with inspiring phrases

Recreating my story: Jesus calms the storm

  • Verse: “Why are you so afraid, O you of little faith?” (Matthew 8:26)
  • Materials: Flashlight, paper figures, and costume
  • Dynamic: Recreate the scene with light and shadows
  • Kit: Pre-cut figures + mini LED lamp + inspiring phrases

Bodily expression: inhale and exhale

  • Verse: “Jesus wept.” (John 11:35)
  • Materials: Faces with emotions
  • Dynamic: Identify emotions and talk about how Jesus felt them
  • Kit: Set of faces + small emotions notebook
